The Garnet Valley Jaguars boys basketball team is off to a great start, with a 6-3 (2-2) record, and recently being crowned champions at the Holiday Classic tournament.

There were questions regarding the team’s ability to step up in the absence of one of the best senior classes in recent history. Carl Schaller (now at Gettysburg) is GV’s most recent 1000 point scorer and one of the greatest players in program history. Justin Langan was one of the best 3-point shooters in the district last year and Gannon McKee dominated the taller end of the court.

Even without these players, the Jags have held strong and remained a Central League force. Junior point guard Max Koehler has been doing an amazing job in his new role, and his supporting cast has been strong. Junior center Logan McKee, junior forward Ryan Faccenda, senior sharpshooter Ryan Wooten, and freshman Jake Sniras have run a high-powered offense to keep teams running. Sniras recently drained five threes in the Holiday Tournament championship game and finished the night with 21 points in the win.

The rest of Garnet Valley’s opponents are mostly Central League matchups with Penncrest and Radnor upcoming on Thursday, January 6th, and Saturday, January 8th. The Jags will look to make a run for their second straight Central League title with the rest of the season. Go Jags!
