The Boys and Girls Swim & Dive teams have a few meets under their belt. Reason being is that they start later and have had some meets been moved due to an outbreak of the new COVID-19 Omicron variant. Both teams have been experimenting and looking at what they have. This team in previous years has made the most of their opportunities and they look to continue that this year. Lets get into a deeper recap of both the boys and girls team . . . .

The Boys Swim and Dive Team has started out the year 0-3 and have some work to do. They have faced some of the best teams in the Central League in Harriton, Springfield, and Ridley. They have had to deal with the loss of Matt Hurford and Kevin Smith. They have been led by senior captains Lukas Olsen and Patrick Li, Shashank Gudipati, Dylan Laskos, Alex Mallie, Jake Mallie, and Tuan Nguyen (according to Garnet Valley Athletics website).

The Girls Swim and Dive Team is also dealing with the loss of Catherine Weavering after she graduated as one of the best swimmers in Garnet Valley history. However, they have been able to deal with it nicely as they have started out the year 2-1. They were even able to do this after they ran low on divers due to COVID. So, they have a lot of depth. They are led by swimmers Makenzie Butler, Allison Craig, Julia Gambacorta, Claudia Grims, Madison Hines, Steph May, Sam Loan, and Brooke Lovelace, Abby Madden, Alexis Maginski, Haley Maher, Hallie Milligan, Lauren Sallidino, Kaitlyn Stankavage, Connie Su, and Cady Su (according to Garnet Valley Athletics website).

The Boys Swim and Dive teams will have their next meet against Marple Newtown at Garnet Valley Middle School at 4:00 PM on Thursday. The Girls Swim and Dive Team will have their meet at the same time and at the same place as the boys team. The regular season will end by the beginning of February and then it will be time for playoffs and individual races. It will be interesting to see how both teams will continue to develop and who will stand out.
