Tonight’s Central League Football matchup at Penncrest High School between the Garnet Valley Jaguars and Penncrest Lions has been rescheduled from 7pm to 6pm tonight, due to weather concerns.

Fresh off their first win of the 2023 season against rival Ridley, the Jags look to continue their 5+ year Central League winning streak against a neighborhood opponent. Penncrest, which is off to a hot start at 2-0, will enter Central League play tonight after wins against Sun Valley and Chichester, having scored an impressive 82 points over two games.

The Lions’ read-option offense, led by senior quarterback Nico Tozzi, has seen success so far, but Garnet Valley will certainly look to challenge the battle up front. The Jaguars’ defense held the always-explosive Ridley to just 7 second-half points last week.

The Jaguars, who share a similar read-option scheme, hope to continue last week’s offensive explosion, fueled by a 229-yard, 5-touchdown performance from senior running back Ronnie Leraris. Despite having lost senior quarterback Tyler Lassik in week one to injury, junior backup Luke O’Donoghue led GV to victory in his first ever start, throwing 2 touchdown passes to Kai Lopez and Ronnie Leraris, and rushing for 48 yards.

Through whatever weather tonight at Penncrest, you can expect an offensive battle in a test of who can execute their game the best. Go Jags!
