Although dancing may appeal mostly to women, in the last number of years, the most popular forms of dance have included a significant amount of males. Dancing can be used in place of regular low impact exercises such as cycling, walking, or aerobics. Depending on the form of the dance, one can actually burn a large amount of calories. Who would have thought one could have fun and lose weight at the same time? The best part about dancing is one does not even think about losing the weight while performing the exercise.

Researchers believe that dancing can keep one’s mind and body healthy as he or she ages. More importantly, dances that require one to learn certain steps can actually increase his or her brain power and help to improve his or her memory skills. Throughout the various styles, dance enables one to utilize all the different parts of his or her body; this also means that all the different muscles in one’s body are being used, and that dance helps to strengthen and tone your muscles without hurting your joints. All forms of dance offer numerous health benefits and are known to lower your risk of heart disease, help with weight loss, and strengthen the bones and muscles in your legs and hips.

Overall, dancing has become a well-known form of exercise. Recently, it has encouraged both males and females to participate with its new age forms of ballroom dancing. Ballroom dancing has become a part of the entertainment industry which has given the style of dance its rising appeal.
