You may not see it the way I do. Most people would see the space as old, chipping shutters, but others, including myself, may see it as old shutters, a small seating area attached, and some hooks making an entryway statement. I have many hobbies that I sprinkle into my everyday schedule, and while some days activities are not completed, the one thing that always needs to be incorporated into my day is interior design. Though I am not licensed to go into peoples’ homes to completely demo and renovate them, I take old houses and draw out how they could look or focus on what could be incorporated in the design to make the room look more full of life.

While drawing, I also design my own pieces, furniture or decoration wise because that is what I do to relax and enjoy myself. If it is not drawing that I am doing, I am in my own little design station in my basement with paints and materials, constructing something appealing or repurposing something that I found interesting. There are often times where flea markets and antique shops are where I would rather go than American Eagle or Target because I am in design mode; when I am “flea market flipping” something, it could be as simple as sanding it down and adding a pop of color or something as complex as completely turning an object into something with an entirely different purpose. When I am in stressful situations, Pinterest and my design station are my best friends, always there to help me relax and de-stress.

I consider interior design to be a part of me; without it, I would be a boring, uncreative person because interior design is what I need in order to be truly and fully express myself. Interior design provides me with an outlet for my stress to go to and really captures who I am and what I enjoy doing. I regards to my future with interior design, my career path as of now solely consists of majoring in interior design. Despite the fact that this decision could potentially change, my love and passion for design will never go away. It will always be a part of me.
