There has been a recurrent and serious debate among Holiday fanatics during the Christmas season… real vs. artificial Christmas trees! So, let’s dive into the pros and cons of each!

Real Christmas trees have captivated the hearts of many around the holiday season. The first pro of choosing a real Christmas tree is that your tree will look authentic! Many artificial Christmas trees look very cartoonish and fake. By choosing a real Christmas tree, you can avoid that!

A second pro of real Christmas trees is that they can provide timeless memories for you and your family. Many families can not wait for the exciting day of the year when they go cut/buy their Christmas tree. These moments shared are always very special and will last forever!

Another pro is the Christmas smell! It is no secret that real Christmas trees will have a very iconic smell to them. The perfect mix of pine cones and nature! Some people enjoy the smell that real trees provide, and that is why they may opt for a real tree.

Now, let’s discuss the cons of a real tree. The first major con that everyone looking into buying a real tree should consider is the bugs! As much as you may try to avoid it, a real tree will almost always leave your house with little bugs crawling around. Usually, it’s not a significant problem, but if bugs creep you out I would avoid a real tree.

A second con of real trees is that you have to maintain the tree by watering it frequently. If you have a busy schedule, finding time to do this might be difficult. You also have to constantly clean up the fallen pine needles from the ground.

The last con I will mention is the increased risk of house fires. Christmas trees, especially when dehydrated, are very prone to catch on fire.

Artificial Christmas trees can also be a great option for many!

For one, they don’t have allergens embedded in them like real Christmas trees do. So, many people with allergies opt for an artificial tree.

Another pro of artificial Christmas trees is that it saves money over time. Instead of needing to buy a real tree every year, you can invest in a good-quality artificial tree that will last for years!

The last pro of artificial Christmas trees is that no maintenance is required for these types of trees! You won’t have to worry about watering your tree, cleaning it of insects, and picking up the needles that it drops.

A con of artificial Christmas trees is that they are not the most economically friendly. Most trees are made from PVC so they are not always recyclable and usually end up in landfills.

A second con of artificial trees is that they are usually made overseas. This is a problem because of the pollution that is a result of overseas shipping. Also, labor is not always ethical overseas.

Unfortunately, artificial Christmas trees are also fire and electrocution hazards. You can’t go wrong with whatever type of tree that you choose to celebrate with! Both types of trees have their fair share of good qualities and obstacles.
