Shane Reynolds evades a defender in his dominant return

What a night. The box score didn’t show it, but Garnet Valley vs Haverford was something special. For starters, and what was on most fans’ minds going into the game, the long-awaited return of running back Shane Reynolds, who was sidelined for over a month with an ankle injury. It was safe to say that his return was well worth the wait, as he took it 82 yards to the house on Garnet Valley’s first offensive snap. He finished the game with 11 carries for 139 yards and 2 scores. Despite his stellar performance, he was only one part of an entire Jaguars offense that could not be stopped, which has been a usual occurrence through their 8 wins. Quarterback Max Busenkell threw for an absurd 6 passes for 269 yards and 4 touchdowns in the first half behind an offensive line that has kept his jersey clean all season. Did I mention that 4 school records were broken? Busenkell tied the school record for most passing touchdowns in a game with 4 in the first half as well as breaking the seasonal record for most passing touchdowns in a season with 18, and wide receiver Sean Gallagher corralled 4 passes for 190 yards and a record-breaking 4 touchdowns. In the first half. His record game also came with the seasonal record for most receiving touchdowns in a season with 10.

Although the defense didn’t set records, they still came to play, and limited Haverford to only 2 total scores to their 8. Two receiving TDs by Haverford’s Ethan Mahan, an 8-yarder, and a pass into double coverage that was somehow tipped into his hands gave the Fords some sparks on the night. Garnet Valley plays their last regular-season away game this Friday, October 22, at Springfield and Haverford will theirs at Radnor.
