Hypothermia was a possibility for this past Friday’s game, and Jag Nation definitely tested the limits. Luckily for the home fans, they got to see an impressive win over a 1-1 Cougar team. The Jags were able to score an amazing 34 points with three touchdowns from Jacob Buttermore who also went four for five on the night for extra points, despite the slippery conditions. The remaining touchdowns actually came from the defense with Timmy Bradley and Josh Ciarrocchi both running in fumbles against the Cougars. Senior Matt Hamby threw only 2 passes the entire game and the play resulted in a touchdown on both passes. The combined efforts of senior Derrick West, junior Jacob Buttermore, and Sophomore Danny Guy, made Garnet Valley a formidable running team that could easily convert first downs. Also during the game, there were quite a few runs by Hamby that resulted in first down a few times. On defense, despite the height difference of 10 inches, senior Ryan Manbeck (5’8”) made an amazing effort shutting down Temple recruit Dan Archibong (6’6”). The Jags were able to hold the Cougars to only 18 points stopping an onslaught of three two point conversion attempts. The Jags look to battle the Fords this Friday away at Haverford with kickoff at 7pm.
