Peer Buddies is a great club at Garnet Valley that gives students the opportunity to build friendships with buddies at GV that have special needs.

If you are accepted into Peer Buddies by filling out a Google form and completing an interview, each member is assigned a Learn Two slot during the week to interact with many new buddies.

The buddies enjoy playing basketball and other sports in the gym. They also love working on puzzles, playing board games, coloring, or simply having a good conversation with their new friends!

In addition to attending your weekly classroom visit, students in Peer Buddies must attend a monthly meeting with Mrs. Kretch, the club’s advisor, in room D107 during Learn Two on Thursdays. Here, members catch up on what they have been doing, come up with new activities to do with their buddies, and plan holiday games for their Learn slots.

Peer Buddies club is also associated with the Unified Bocce Team, where members of the club (and others) can join the team and support their friends. The club also attends and creates its own fun events, like the upcoming Polar Plunge.

If you want to join Peer Buddies, you have to wait until next year to sign up for the interest meeting and try to make it through the interview process. If accepted, the club will open up opportunities for you to make new friends and enjoy your time with them!
