Every year Garnet Valley hosts Mini-THON, an event to raise money and awareness for families affected by pediatric cancer. They work with an organization called Four Diamonds whose goal is “to conquer childhood cancer by assisting children and their families through superior care, comprehensive support, and innovative research”.

GV’s Mini-THON is based on Penn State University’s THON. But while their THON consists of standing for 46 hours, Garnet Valley’s has its participants stand for 9 hours. However, if you want to participate but cannot stand for that long due to a medical condition or if you need to leave and come back due to sports practices, you can pick up an excusal form in Mrs. Kamann’s room (B115).

This year’s Mini-THON is taking place on Friday, March 1st. The theme is safari: searching for a cure. Some activities at the event include a line dance, sports tournaments (basketball, volleyball, soccer, etc.), a moon bounce, a visit from puppies, a coffee station, an ice cream bar, and many other fun things to get involved in!

If you want to attend the event, you must register on Donor Drive and fundraise a minimum of $100. Additionally, you need to turn in a signed permission slip and $15 for the registration fee to Mrs. Kamann’s room (B115).

Everyone registered will participate from 1-10 pm, leaving class early. Family and friends are welcome to stop by during community hours which will be 8-10 pm.
