Have you ever imagined a story that you couldn’t quite put into words? Do you want to write a beautiful poem? Do you want to better communicate with the written word? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then Creative Writing is for you! Creative Writing is a half credit (It also counts as .25 tech credit) elective taught by the venerable and friendly Mrs. Arters. In the class, you can develop your writing techniques by learning the writing form behind it, as well as by writing your own pieces. Pieces generally have considerable leeway and freedom in which to work. An assignment might have a prompt or multiple to choose from, but you are free to make it your own. Write a short narrative, an abstract description, a poem – or anything else you want to write!
Now, you might tell me, “But I’m not creative! And I’m terrible at writing.” You don’t need to worry; the only requirement is that you have a passion for writing and want to create literature. You don’t need to be J.K. Rowling to write. If your piece is lacking, it’s no problem, that’s what editing is for! You’ll work with a partner and sharpen each other’s skills. You’ll have fun, make friends and learn along the way. If you’re still on the fence about signing up, just do it. It’s a joyful, relaxed class, so you have nothing to lose!
