Over the years, TikTok has gained so much popularity and power. It has influenced many people, industries, and more. One of those things includes music. Music doesn’t become popular the way it used to, by radio stations or music channels deciding something’s a hit song. A song can go from being completely under the radar and unknown, to being played everywhere you go in a matter of a few days.

On TikTok, if a few seconds of a song are catchy, have fun lyrics, or can be used easily with a trend, it has the chance of blowing up and possibly changing the artist’s life, and making that song famous. Most artists now strive to make their song a “viral trend”.

This has helped new and independent artists get discovered faster than ever. People without major record deals can gain millions of listeners simply because their song fits a trend. At the same time, it can be frustrating for artists who feel pressure to constantly create viral content instead of focusing on their full songs or albums.

TikTok has also changed how people listen to music. Instead of finding songs through albums, many listeners discover music randomly through their feed. This makes music feel more personal, but it also means trends move on quickly. Songs that are huge one week can disappear the next.

Whether it’s helping new artists rise or changing how music is created, TikTok has clearly changed the music industry.
