Have you ever gotten a call from your "utility company," demanding you to pay before you lose all your electricity? If you said "yes," then I'm concerned that you're even getting calls from any sort of utility company at this age. This all goes to say that today--November 20th, 2024-- is National Utility Scam Awareness Day! While you may get scammed by an imposter utility business, there are still countless ways scammers can get to us, or more specifically our money.

Scams can come in countless forms, whether through text, phone calls, or simply pop-ups on digital devices. In a world with rapidly evolving technology, scammers are coming up with new ways to impersonate family, friends, and trusted organizations. If you haven't encountered many scams yourself, try to ask others and you'll likely find that scams are more common than people may imagine! I personally know a few friends whose Instagram account was hacked, jeopardizing their personal information.
