The Garnet Valley Performing Arts Association recently closed out their spring 2025 musical, Brigadoon. With the end of the 2024-2025 play season, it is also the end of the senior’s current leadership.

For the stage crew specifically, sound, lighting, and stage are mainly run by the class of 2025. Because of this fact, there are many emotions and feelings. “For me, it’s very disorienting to know that I won’t be doing another play again,” commented senior Michael Schumacher. Michael has been in the stage crew since he was a freshman, and he leads the left side of the stage during the show. “I am definitely going to come back and bug the underclassmen. I won’t stop messaging them, and I want to come back to see the shows next year, I know they will be great!”

It is not only hard for the seniors leaving, though.

“I’m scared for next year, honestly. I don’t know how it will go.” junior Elliott Henthorn says. “I think it will be a fun experience to be a lead next year, but I’m honestly nervous since I think many of the upcoming underclassmen leaders don’t have much experience leading a big group. Since majority of stage crew is seniors, though, I think it may be less pressure since there will be a smaller group for them to lead.” The senior leaders are brimming with optimism as they look forward to seeing the abilities of the new leaders.

Considering the fact that all the 2025 leaders in stage crew are seniors, it is going to be a huge adjustment for the stage crew and the next two shows for the 2025-26 show season. With that being said, there has never been a bad show put on by the Garnet Valley Performing Arts Association. The graduating seniors are excited to see what the underclassmen can do, and the underclassmen are looking forward to having some leadership in the Drama Club. The juniors and seniors alike are wishing the best for the drama club’s future, and the underclassmen wish the seniors the best of luck, despite the unfortunate reality of saying goodbye.
