After outstanding regular seasons and thrilling District 1 Playoff runs, both Garnet Valley’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are headed into the PIAA 6A State Playoffs. Both teams have proved their dedication, reliance, and strength this season, now it is time for them to take on their next challenge.

The Lady Jags came out placed 8th in District 1 after beating William Tenant 53-35 in round two of the playoffs, then falling to Upper Dublin, the team that took the District 1 Championship Title, in the quarterfinals, 54-22. Garnet Valley fought hard for their ranking in the playback bracket, their 8th place finish allowing them to be one of the 10 teams in District 1 to go into the state bracket. Their strong 18-7 record is sure to bring them confidence as they face off against District 2’s Champion, Hazleton, at Hazleton High School at 7:00pm on Friday, March 6th. Hazleton holds a current record of 24-2, so it is sure to be a competitive match for both teams.

The boys’ team finished their regular season and District 1 playoff run with a solid 17-8 record. The Jags also came out of the District 1 Playoff bracket ranked 8th (out of 10 teams going to states) after beating Pennsbury 52-41 in round 2, then losing to Plymouth Whitemarsh 65-42, the team who won the District 1 Playoff Bracket a couple nights later. They are set to play District 12’s Champion Imhotep, a strong team with a 21-6 overall record, at Lincoln High School this Saturday March 7th at 1:30pm.

The boys’ and girls’ team’s 8th place finish in the District 1 Playoff Bracket as well as their similar records prove the strength both teams have worked to build all season. The Jags and Lady Jags are headed into the PIAA 6A State Bracket with not just this strength, but also the support of Garnet Valley fans behind them.

Best of luck to both teams that have worked so hard all season to get to this point… Go Jags!!
