Garnet Valley Basketball fans have plenty to cheer about this winter… The 25-26 Garnet Valley Basketball Season is shaping up to be a great one for both the boys and girls teams. Both teams defeated Ridley this past Tuesday, February 2nd, adding a win to both of their outstanding records.

Boys’ Basketball has a current record of 15-4 according to MaxPreps. The Jags started strong this season, coming out of their first ten games only losing one game to Penn Wood early on. The team has refused to let their winning streak dwindle, which has placed them third in the Central League. Close wins like the team’s 67–66 victory over the Haverford Rams on December 16th are what keep Garnet Valley among the top teams in the Central League.

The team's three seniors, Jimmy Grugan, Vasilie Egonopoulos, and Travis Griffith, have helped push their team to the top and show no signs of backing down anytime soon.

The team has also qualified for the 2026 Central League Tournament, and will play their first game in round 1 at home in the 2020 Center against Lower Merion, a team the Jags previous took down 69-60, on Thursday night at 7pm (2/5/26). The Lady Jags are also placed 3rd in the Central League so far this season, which is no surprise looking at their 17-4 season record (MaxPreps). The girls’ team has secured many important wins within the Central League, taking down strong competitors like Conestoga and Haverford, while also battling it out with tough out of league teams such as Episcopal Academy, who they beat 53-47 on December 28th.

The Lady Jags had the chance to honor their six seniors, Reese Hunter, Katie Dywer, Regan Leydig, Cassidy Zipperlen, Heaven Dada, and Amanda Bilson, last night at their Senior Night game against Ridley. Fans flooded the 2020 Center to support the seniors and team. The girls of course came out on top, winning the game 59-28.

The girl’s amazing season has not only secured them a spot in the Central League Tournament, but also a bye past the first round. The Lady Lags will compete against a TBD team in round 2 of the tournament on Friday, February 6th, at 7pm in the 2020 Center. Be sure to buy your tickets on Hudl and show out to support the team!
