Premier League (England):

We head to England for quite a competitive title race. We have 3 main contenders in this one: Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United. Arsenal are finally seeing some great success with Arteta leading the way as the manager. Arsenal as of writing this, lead the league by two points with a game in hand, sitting with a total of 57 points from 24 matches.

With Manchester City in second place and Manchester United in third place. United, while they do have a chance, are unlikely to win, behind Arsenal by 8 points. Manchester City have been the usual winners in the past few years, being crowned champions four of the five last years. Comparatively, the last time Arsenal won a Premier League title was all the way back in 2004. Prediction: Arsenal get their first Premier League title since the Invincibles

La Liga (Spain):

The title race in La Liga is much more straightforward, with FC Barcelona on top. The only other team reasonably in contention for La Liga are reigning champions Real Madrid, but even for them it’ll take an epic collapse from Barça for them to have a chance, as Barcelona lead by 7 points (and have a game in hand).

Even though FC Barcelona this season haven’t fared well in the Champions League and recently were knocked out in the Europa League, it looks certain that they’ll at least have a league title at the end of the season (they also have a good shot at winning the Copa Del Rey as well). Most likely, at least domestically, this season will be a success for Barcelona who have had a rocky few years. Prediction: FC Barcelona run away with the league

Bundesliga (Germany):

The Bundesliga for once might be won by a team that isn’t Bayern Munich. Currently leading the league is Borussia Dortmund with 46 points with 22 matches played. Bayern and Union Berlin both have 43 points from 21 matches played. The teams in 4th, 5th, and 6th place all are contention as well: RB Lepzig (42 pts), SC Freiburg (40 pts), and Eintracht Frankfurt (38 pts). The Bundesliga has by far the most enthralling title race out of any of Europe’s Top 5 Leagues.

Bayern Munich’s domination of the Bundeslga has stretched for the last 10 years. Yes, they have won the Bundesliga for 10 straight years. Every year it seems that someone new will emerge, but Bayern always have won in the end. Maybe for the first time in 10 years we’ll have a new victor, but there is still a good chance that Bayern wins again. Prediction: Union Berlin win the Bundesliga for the first time in their club’s history

Ligue 1 (France):

Things in France are looking pretty simple, with PSG leading the league, ahead by 8 points over Marseille. Tied for third place we have Monaco and Lens who both are 10 points behind PSG.

If we look at the recent history of who has been winning the league in France, PSG come up a lot, winning 8 league titles since the 2012/13 season. Now that doesn’t mean no one else has been able to defeat them. Quite recently in the 2020/21 season, Lille won the league. While back in the 2016/17 season, Monaco ousted PSG of the top spot. This season, it looks unlikely that PSG will be usurped given their sizable lead, but crazier things have happened. Prediction: PSG continue their run of dominance in France

Serie A (Italy):

In Italy we have the least competitive title race out of all of Europe’s Top 5 Leagues. Napoli are the league leaders with 65 points. Inter Milan and AC Milan, who are tied for second place, have just 47 points (18 points behind Napoli).

To find the last time Napoli won the league, you have to go all the way back to 1990 when Diego Maradona played for the club. The Serie A used to be completely dominated by Juventus from 2012-2020 who won 8 straight league titles, but this year Juventus are completely out of the picture after their point deduction. Prediction: Napoli win for the first time in 33 years
