The election for the class of 2026 officers has finally come to a close! We now have our 2022 Class President, Sebastian Nguyen, and Vice-President Katie Dwyer. We had the opportunity to talk to them about their plans for the upcoming school year.

When talking with Sebastian, we asked how he felt now that he was President.  He responded:   “I feel very good. I put in a lot of effort to try to ensure that I could win. I really want to make a difference freshman year, not just for the grade but for the rest of the school.”

Sebastian worked hard to convince his peers to vote for him, such as talking to students one-on-one and handing out candy and gum, which definitely helped many students decide who to vote for.

Sebastian announced that the theme he would like to pursue this year for Homecoming is “Welcome to the Resort.”  The theme was originally going to be “Welcome to the Masquerade,” but after our class officers talked it over, they decided that “Welcome to the Resort” would be an even better idea. This theme will be more tropical.

We asked Sebastian if he had any events for the freshman to look forward to in the upcoming months. While nothing is official, he told us that they are looking into doing a basketball match for charity. It is not yet decided what charity this event would be for, but Sebastian assured us it would be for a good cause. Sebastian also mentioned that there would be many more fundraisers this year, which he and the other class officers are trying to get approved.

Before ending the interview, we asked Sebastian if he had anything he would like to say to the Class of 2026. He responded: “I can’t wait to make this year better for all of us. I can’t wait to work with my cabinet members to ensure that we have a great freshman year.”

After concluding our interview with the President, we had the opportunity to interview our new Vice President, Katie Dwyer. She said to make a better environment is to spread positivity and be kind to everyone.

All of the class officers are so excited to make this year awesome for all freshmen!
