On Monday, February 7, American figure skater Nathan Chen broke a world record in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Chen was the first man to ever attempt and land a quadruple jump in the second half of the Men’s Short Program at the Olympics. On top of this incredible jump, Chen also broke the world record score for the Men’s Short Program, previously held by Japanese skater Yuzuru Hanyu, earning 113.97 points. Hanyu’s record was set at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, with a score of 111.82 in the short program. Chen has set a new bar for male skaters and proven himself once again to be the “Quad King”.
