The 9th grade ELA Epic Pumpkin Decorating event happened throughout all 9th grade English classes on Wednesday and Thursday in the high school cafeteria. Thanks to the generous contributions from the community, ninth grade teachers have collected over 200 pumpkins and some paint to allow students to decorate pumpkins around our Unit 1 texts and skills. Our common text is the Odyssey and we are studying the hero journey archetype as well as how cultural values influence literature. The 9th-grade teachers have been hard at work creating this common experience for the students as well as providing an opportunity for hands-on learning.
The following sponsors made this possible:

GIANT FOOD STORES ($450 worth of pumpkins)

Wegmans Concordville ($150 worth of pumpkins)

Richardsons Nursery (30 pumpkins)

Smithbridge Nursery (25 pumpkins)

Wolff’s Apple House (20 pumpkins)

Pete’s Produce (15 pumpkins)

Target Concordville ($100 gift card)

Home Depot ($50 of paint)

Sweet Frog (gift cards and coupons for prizes)

Acme ($25 of pumpkins)

GVPAA Drama club (5 pumpkins)

GVHS art department – brushes for painting

Please stop by to see the pumpkins and please patronize these supporting community organizations.
