Are you interested in learning a new language? Well, this is your chance: Rachel Sokalsky and Stephanie May have created an American Sign Language club at Garnet Valley High School. The mission statement is to bring awareness to ASL while giving students the opportunity to learn the language. “We want to learn along with the club so we can motivate each other,” May said.

They plan to incorporate fun activities during the learning process such as ASL bingo.

Sokalsky had a personal conection that inspired her to create an ASL club, “My dad has a hearing loss which is continuing to worsen so my family and I are beginning to learn sign language,” Sokalsky shared.

The ASL Club will be meeting every Thursday during Learn 1 in Mr. Rugh’s classroom (B216). Any students who are interested in joining, come to the meetings and bring a friend!
