Anish Suresh’s 10 Favorite Things

My name is Anish Suresh and I am a senior at Garnet Valley High School. In light of recent events, here are 10 of my favorite things that have helped me through the quarantine.

  1. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

This is one of the very first shows, back when it was on Netflix, that I actually watched from beginning to end within a matter of weeks. I think the slapstick comedy is extremely humorous, and the show never fails to put a smile on my face.

  1. My bed

The comfort of being under my covers in my bed, where I am currently situated, is unrivaled to any other place. Aside from just using it to sleep, I have –since the start of zoom school– began spending nearly my entire morning lounging on the mattress. I have since grown very fond of the bed.

  1. Frozen pizza

In middle school, I would eat quite a few frozen pizzas. I have many memories of coming home from practice or lessons late at night, preheating the oven, putting in a frozen pizza, and rushing to finish all of my homework before it was done so that I could fall asleep after dinner.

  1. Chipotle

Sticking with the theme of food, One of my favorite places to eat is Chipotle. The food is fairly healthy and filling, but most of all, it’s delicious. Unfortunately, it is rather expensive, and I’ve devoted a fair chunk of my earnings to this joint.

  1. Coffee

Although I wouldn’t classify myself as an outright coffee addict like the rest of the members of my family, I definitely find it frustrating and difficult to wake up for school or work without it. The taste and warmth it provides you in the morning make it essential to wake up.

  1. The gym

This undoubtedly belongs on the list as I just love to workout, and feel out of place when I haven’t or can’t. Being cooped up in quarantine for 7 or so months showed me just how much I took having a gym membership for granted and ever  since they have reopened, I have been going consistently.

  1. Nutella

As a kid, I would have to constantly persuade my parents to buy this product. Even once it was in the house, I would be required to ask to use it. To this day, it is still my favorite spread for sandwiches, and it is very infrequently out of stock in my household.

  1. My car

Being one of the first large items I actually saved up for and bought, my stick shift Mazda 3 hatchback is  my prized possession. I spend loads of time not only driving it, but also under its hood. I have recently made a few upgrades to it, and will continue to add more come summertime.

  1. Cold showers

Although I don’t ~enjoy~ cold showers per say, I love the invigorating and exciting feeling. It wakes me up and allows me to truly start the day on the right foot. I also like how the cold makes me uncomfortable, and that I must push myself out of my comfort zone each morning to allow me to do so throughout the day.

  1. Listening to Music

I enjoy listening to music, and it makes me feel relaxed and at peace. Over quarantine, I have definitely done this more.
