What are snow days?
We have snow days when it snows too much & we get off from school. They are super fun and exciting. You get to sit inside and watch Netflix as you drink hot chocolate. You can go sledding in your yard if you have a hill. You could build a snowman or make snow angels. The best part is, you get to sleep in late. Well, you might not be able to engage with these fun activities this year…
Why we might not have snow days this year
In March 2020, the whole world was basically shut down due to the rapidly spreading Coronavirus. As a result, schools were closed for the remainder of the year. At the time, spring was approaching, so it was getting warmer. Now that it’s fall, it’s getting colder. Meteorologists are even predicting snow this winter. What does that mean for snow days? It could mean that students & teachers would continue their work on Zoom. That being said, we still might get a day off. We’ll just have to wait and see.
How will the school year be affected?
If we don’t have any snow days this year, will the school year end early? Garnet Valley School District has snow days built in to the calendar. We get four snow days without having to make up a day at the end of the year. If we don’t get snow days off, we might get out the first full week of June. What do you guys think? Are “snow days” really a thing of the past?
