Democratic Primaries were recently held last Tuesday, March 10, in the states of Mississippi, Missouri, Michigian, North Dakota, Idaho, and Washington. In a somewhat unexpected twist of events, Joe Biden swept through the day with 4 complete victories, clinching complete wins in Missouri, Michigan, Mississippi, and Idaho. Biden also came through leading in Washington, defeating Bernie Sanders by just under 30,000 votes.

Some have said that these primaries mark the beginning of the end for Senator Sanders. North Dakota was the only state that the Vermont senator was able to claim victory over. Even Michigan, the state that Sanders won in 2016, was taken by Biden in a landslide vote. As chances of an overall victory appear increasingly narrow for Sanders, he and his supporters are still refusing to concede defeat.

Supporters of Sanders have attributed the endorsements of former Democratic candidates Andrew Yang, Beto O’Rourke, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, and Mike Bloomberg as key factors contributing towards Sanders’ defeat. Regardless, the approaching Democratic debate, which will take place tonight and feature just Biden and Sanders on the stage, as well as the March 17th primaries, will make or break Sanders’ campaign.
