Aadil Saif, a senior, has been an active member of the stage crew at the high school. He has worked on four of the plays including the spring play that is starting this week, Seussical.
What’s it been like working behind the scenes of Seussical?
As a member of the stage crew, it’s a lot of working hours, but really rewarding. Getting to see what you work on come to life on stage is always really nice.
As a senior, how do you feel about this being your last show?
Seussical is a really cool last show from a tech perspective. It’s a lot of wacky lights, interesting sound effects, and dynamics. This is a show where I get to be more creative and experiment a bit, which is nice.
What has your overall experience working on the play been like?
While it can be somewhat stressful at times, the hours that you put in are really rewarding. You get to form all kinds of bonds with other people and it’s a lot of fun.
Do you have a favorite play that you worked on? Why was working on that play your favorite?
Annie was my favorite show in terms of what I got to do. The reason that it was my favorite is because I got to design all the lights and that was really fun and exciting.
What is going to make people love Seussical?
Creatively, Seussical is a lot more fun and outgoing compared to the fall play, Hunchback. You get to see your wacky creations come to life and embrace your imaginative side.
What excites you the most about being a part of stage crew?
Working on stage crew provides the framework for the play. Without the sets and the lights, it’s really hard to do a good show. It contributes to the whole play experience and allows me to be artistically creative.
What do you think the audience will be thinking about Seussical after seeing it?
The audience will have a lot of fun during the show. Seussical is very lighthearted and very cartoonish. It’s a nice creative outlet that will feed into the audience’s imagination.
What is the best night to come see the show?
I would say that Thursday or Friday night is one of my two favorite casts. However, Saturday night is also really good as well.
The showtimes for Seussical are March 5th from 6:30pm-9:00pm, March 6th from 6:30pm-9:00pm, March 7th from 1:00pm-3:00pm, and March 7th from 6:30pm-9pm.
