This fall season was one for the ages with including central league titles for the field hockey, football, cheerleading, and volleyball teams. The field hockey team made it to States for the first time in their history as well. There is a lot to like from these teams from this season and to feel that the future is bright for the fall sports of Garnet Valley High School. Let go into a deeper dive into each sport.
First, lets start off with volleyball, who did a lot this year. They were able to win the central league title with a 14-6 record overall with being 10-1 in the Central League. They have become a Central League power in this last decade. Overall, a very well rounded year for this team.
The football team made quite a bit of noise this year with securing their second straight Central League title and their fourth straight semi-final appearance in the current format of the District One playoffs. They had the most points ever scored in program history this year with 574 points. They went 11-2 overall with being 9-0 in the Central League. Overall a very good year for the football team.
The field hockey team had a historically good year with them achieving the first Central League title and their first District One title in program history. They went 21-2 overall with being 11-0 in the Central League. One of those wins included beating undefeated Conestoga for the first time in 10 years. Overall, one of the best teams in program history.
The girls soccer team had a good season. A big accomplishment for them was an appearance and a win in the District One playoffs. They were 9-8-2 overall and 5-5-1 in the Central League. Overall, a nice year for this soccer team.
The girls tennis team had a very good year. They were 8-7 overall and 8-3 in the Central League. They had Annie DeClemente who placed 6th at the Central League tennis and made the District One tournament. Overall, a solid year for this tennis team.
The girls cross country team had a very productive year this year. The girls cross country team had a lot of very good PR’s and this year. A few of which were at the Central League championships where Olivia Descovich took 5th, Ashleigh Lustgarden took 18th, and Maya Ganzke tool 22nd. All of whom medaled. A year to be proud of for this program.
The boys cross country team had a very good year as well. Sean Garrett broke the school record this in in a 5k for cross country this year with a time of 15:23. Also, John Colavito took 18th at the Unionville two mile bash. Overall, a very good year of cross country for this team.
The golf team had a nice year to this year. They Jake Sokalsky this year was named 1st team all Central League golf. This team also had a lot of other good golfers. Overall, a very good year for this team.
The boys soccer team had a positive year this year. They went 9-7-0 overall and 6-5-0 in the Central League. They had Ethan Hensinger goes 1st team all Central League with Matt Meeson, Lucas Cofone, and Matt Bowes getting honorable mentions. A year to be remembered for this soccer team.
The Cheerleading season has been stellar this year. It continues on into the winter season but they have already took the Central League and the District One titles already. They have won these titles for multiple years in a row now. Overall, a terrific start to their season.
