Players Club of Swarthmore
This past summer I auditioned for a role in the Tony Award winning musical Annie. After two days of auditioning and a week of waiting for the cast list, I was offered the role of Annie. I had just finished playing Annie at my high school in March, but I was so excited to hear the news that I would be given a second chance to play one of the most iconic child roles in history.
I am only a month away from opening night, and so far, the show is coming together well. I never knew there would be such a big difference between the time commitment of a community theatre and a very sophisticated high school performing arts group (and it’s not just the ages of the Warbucks’). Our show dates are November 22 through December 7th and there are 10 performances.
I am very fortunate to be working with such talented people. I walked into this program not knowing a single person, and now I have met so many people that are all extremely kind and I consider them to be my friends. Although I miss not being a part of my high schools fall production this year, I am very fortunate that I have been given this amazing opportunity.
