It is a pleasure to highlight that Sophia Smith, senior at Garnet Valley, received the prestigious Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key award this past March. Sophia had the opportunity to attend an awards ceremony in Philadelphia on March 30th to recognize a short story she had previously written in her fall AP Literature class. Additionally, her achievement was recognized by the Philadelphia City Council.
As of now, Sophia is excitedly waiting to see whether or not she will receive national honors later this spring for her short story, since her literary piece is now submitted into the national contest for the Philadelphia Writing Project.
