From March 1 to 3rd, 21 students from the Model UN team went to the University of Delaware to compete in the seventh annual HenMUN. The conference was a wonderful learning opportunity for those who attended and allowed students to strengthen their diplomacy, teamwork, and public speaking skills. Our delegates did well! Here are our winners:
Honorary Mentions:
Aditi Sridhar as Germany in ECOSOC’s Committee for Development Policy
Outstanding Delegate:
Harry Markle as Yemen in the 5th Geneva Convention Specialized Agency
Best Delegate:
Andrew Murray in the Disarmament and International Security Committee
Ms. Gumpert commented on the team’s dedication, saying “I am so proud of the GV delegation. Even prior to the conference, they spent hours researching the assigned topics and writing position papers. While at the conference they spent over 13 hours in committee and additional time negotiating and strategizing during meal breaks and downtime. This hard work truly paid off for Andrew Murray (1st place/Best Delegate) as Yemen in the Disarmament and International Security Committee, Harry Markel (2nd place/Outstanding Delegate) as Yemen in the 5th Geneva Convention Specialized Agency, and Aditi Sridhar (3rd place/Honorable Mention) as Germany in the ECOSOC’s Committee for Development Policy. “
A big thank you to Mrs. Gumpert for her dedication to the club, which allows for students to reach their true academic potential.
