Behind-the-Scenes look at Annie

By Sage Klingensmith

Annie is right around the corner and dress rehearsals are coming to the end! For the theater kids who are participating in Garnet Valley High School’s production of the musical Annie. The students have been practicing from January to now. The show dates are March 7-9. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night shows are at 6:30pm and the Saturday Matinee show is at 1:30pm.

The students in Annie have put in an average of 20 hours or more a week. Practice is Monday through Friday and Sundays; however, Saturdays are when set crew gather to build the sets, costumes, and props. This means that if students who are also involved in the play as well as set crew are at the school everyday out of the week.

This week, the first week of March, is dress rehearsal week: starting the first sunday of March, hair, makeup, costumes, and props all spring into action and complete the production. We also have dress rehearsals Monday and Tuesday, with a “dark day” Wednesday. This is a day of rest before the shows begin on Thursday night! Come see our production of Annie!
