One of Garnet Valley’s most exciting and impactful events is getting in gear… it’s Minithon! A program that donates money and resources to the families of cancer patients who are associated with the Four Diamonds Fund, Minithon is an incredible organization that is run majorly within the Garnet Valley community by STUCO. The Student Council committees have recently started to organize themselves into making preparations for Minithon, and in particular, the business outreach management group from STUCO has begun reaching out to various businesses for support and donations. The registration for Minithon has also started, so students, faculty, and those from the community are encouraged to sign up for the amazing event; anyone who cannot attend is welcome to contribute donations to go to Four Diamonds. Furthermore, decorations for Minithon are in the process of being made, as the theme for 2019 is luau/tropical and very colorful, and in the upcoming weeks, there will likely be sign ups for bands and other performances in order to raise money for the event.

Josh Wong, a senior and STUCO member, emphasized the significance of being a part of the Minithon experience. “Minithon gives me an opportunity to come together with my friends,” he said, “It’s a stressful night but a fun night, too.” An inspiring event performed by numerous schools and universities, Minithon is a great way to contribute positively to society and become involved and make a profound difference in the lives of children with pediatric cancer. More information will be released regarding this program in the upcoming months, but anyone with additional questions can contact Minithon Supervisor Mrs. Griego-Boruch or any of the Student Council members involved with Minithon.
