Aside from the fact that all of the artwork at the Garnet Valley High School Art Show was extremely impressive and showed great talent, the piece of art that I found to be the most intriguing was an image of a girl holding a sign “Education is a right not a priviledge”. The misspelling of the word “privilege” emphasizes the gaps in the education system and how quality of education is not equal everywhere. Schools in many urban areas are underfunded, and the school to prison pipeline has been increasing over the years. This incredible, colorful piece of art symbolizes the faults in the education system and encourages effective change.
