The Garnet Valley High School Art Show was a wonderful success, and I was amazed at the creativity and talent of Garnet Valley’s student artists. One of my favorite pieces in the art show was a photograph by David Simpson. The photo depicts a girl being engulfed in sea water with a wave only exposing her face. I was automatically attracted to this piece because the wave perfectly surrounds the girl, and her face is completely calm; also, she is perfectly centered in the picture, allowing the viewer to focus in on the girl’s expression and content nature. This picture is also perfectly timed, displaying movement, stillness, and clarity despite the rushing water. Overall, the photograph of the girl in the waves is extremely beautiful and showcases true artistic talent.
