Rolling through town with the windows down
The path is winding and the sky is dark
The wind whips through the quiet night
All is calm on Devil’s Road.
A sudden turns surprises me
A forced maneuver turns deadly
An escape so narrow we can all barely breath
Still, all is calm on Devil’s Road.
The trees arch out like a distant embrace
A shield
Providing a sense of eerie comfort
And although fear is coursing through me
All is calm on Devil’s Road.
Surrounded by people
Yet on the road I am alone
In charge
The fate of others lying in my hands
When everyone relies on me
I turn left
Because nothing goes right on Devil’s Road.
