The following people have been picked as the Garnet Valley Rotary Student of the Month for the month of October.
Meghan Arters is a sixteen-year-old junior from Garnet Valley, PA. The second in her family to have the honor of being a Rotary Student of the month, following in her brother, Jake Arters’, Class of 2015 footsteps. Meghan is a member of the GVHS Field Hockey Team, winning their Sports Ambassador Award last year, a Spring Track 4 X 100 sprinter, a Student Council Member, and an editor for the Jaguar Journal, the school’s online newspaper. The Vice President of the GVHSPAA Drama Club, Meghan has performed in sixteen of the Garnet Valley plays since playing the role of Mollie in first grade. Her favorite roles were Little Cosette in Les Miserables and Mimi in Rent. Meghan has also been on the Nickelodeon shows Wonder Pets and Backyardigans, performed in State Fair at the Walnut Street Theater and been featured in the Don’t Tell Mama Cabaret in NYC.
Meghan is a two-year recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for giving over 100 hours of community service a year. She sang for the Remembrance Walk for mini-THON last year, sang the National Anthem at the State Teacher’s Union Dinner, and volunteers at performing arts camps in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Meghan is the proud daughter of Gerald Arters, Jr. 1982 GVHS graduate and Heather Arters, a 21-year teacher at Garnet Valley High School. Meghan, an AP English and Social Studies student, would like to pursue French or education at West Chester University or Temple University and hopes to always be able to keep acting, dancing, and singing. She is truly grateful for the wonderful teachers she has had at Garnet Valley especially Mrs. Swanick, Ms. Master, Mr. Kocur, Ms. Lafave, Madame Venditti, Ms. Blair, Mr. Longo, and Mr. Layman.
Ryan Baldino is a seventeen- year-old citizen from Bethel Township, where he has lived almost his entire life. He tries to challenge himself physically by being an active member of the cross country, swimming, and track teams of Garnet Valley. He is passionate about the humanities, taking Advanced Placement European History last year and Advanced Placement United States History and Advanced Technical Placement Language and Composition this year.
Ryan has also recently joined the school’s Hi-Q team and has been the president of the Class of 2018 since his freshman year, having recently finished the 2016 float for the annual Homecoming parade. He is an Eagle Scout, passing his Court of Honor on January 28, 2015. He has been affiliated with Troop 191 of Garnet Valley since becoming a Wolf Cub Scout in 2007. He has been employed as a lifeguard at High Point Swim Club in Wilmington, Deleware, where he has been a member for ten years. He is a member of the Garnet Valley Spanish Club, which he accompanied this past summer on a tour of Spain.

Ryan is a Virgo and enjoys long walks on the beach, and above all, he is honored to have been made the Rotary Student of the Month.
