Leonardo DiCaprio Breaks the Internet

At the Oscars on February 28, 2016, Leonardo Dicaprio was nominated, yet again to win Best Actor. He was nominated for the film, The Revenant and many people rooted for him to win since he had never won an Oscar before. When he actually did win the award, social media, and pretty much the entire internet all together started going crazy. More than 440,000 twitter posts were tweeted per minute congratulating him, becoming the most tweeted Oscar moment in history. Dicaprio dethroned Ellen Degeneres title when she posted the famous selfie of her with a group of celebrities at the Oscars in 2014. Ellen was receiving 255,000 tweets per minute at that time. With the world extremely joyful about Dicaprio’s first Oscar, other awards were given to movies such as Mad Max: Fury Road and Inside Out.
