Maddie & Tae is the new country girl group from Texas and Oklahoma. They both play the guitar and use their talents in all of their songs. Their recent album, Start Here, was released everywhere on August 28. Forming in early 2014, they dropped their first single “Girl in a Country Song” in a matter of weeks, making it a single sensation within a few months. By the end of the year, the girls had topped the Nashville Scene Annual Country Critics’ Poll for Single of the Year along with earning 23 million VEVO views on YouTube, a Gold-certified single and stirred up conversations at multiple magazine headquarters. They also received three awards for Breakout Video of the Year, Duo Video of the Year, and the top honor Video of the Year.
When I first listened to Start Here, I thought that it was the definition of a girl country group. Their harmonies are on point ,and both of their voices are incredible. Most of their songs have the same concept as other songs written by country female artists. Their songs are catchy and have messages that teenage girls can easily relate to. I predict these two girls will go far in the music industry.
